Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and Additional Needs (EAL and More Able)

Welcome to our SEND and Inclusion information

Bfis heart

At Barnes Farm Primary School, inclusion is at the heart of our provision and practice.

We believe that all our children, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, special educational or medical needs, attainment and background, should receive an equal opportunity to engage with a knowledge-rich and inclusive curriculum, in order to enjoy the rewards of reaching their full academic potential and have sound wellbeing.

We believe that if our children are happy and healthy and we have good relationships with their families, we will be able to best meet their needs and help them achieve success.

As part of our commitment, we have a core offer to which all children are entitled, to help them develop in their learning, behaviour, relationships, wellbeing and mental health.

Where children need a higher level of additional support, we aim to provide a personalised or bespoke offer to meet their individual needs and are committed to working with a range of external professionals to ensure this.

For us, early intervention and support is essential. Early identification of needs and building strong relationships with families is key in us developing learners who can independently and successfully access the curriculum and achieve the best possible outcomes for them as individuals.  We are always willing to go ‘over and above’ to support out children to be the best that they can be.

We are committed to ensuring that all of our staff receive high quality training in a range of specialisms to support this aim, e.g. neurodiversity, speech and language and mental health, and that we educate our wider community to also understand these needs.  We want to foster a culture where all of our community have an understanding of the challenges that lots of our families, staff and community face and want everyone to feel welcome and included at our school.

Our extensive school site has also been tailored to cater for the wide range of needs and ages of our pupil cohort.  We are committed to create a learning environment that values diversity and the unique contributions of each child and member of our community and we want to do everything possible to acknowledge and celebrate this.

At BFPS, working together as a community to provide the very best experiences and outcomes for all children is at the heart of everything we do.
